New partnership ensures proper outfitting for student athlete marathon training program
Boston, MA – adidas and City Sports will partner with Dreamfar High School Marathon to provide essential running gear for all of its student athletes as they train throughout the 2012-13 academic year for the Cox Sports Marathon in May. DHSM officials recently made the announcement.
DHSM trains high school students to run a marathon in an effort to teach them goal-setting, commitment, teamwork, life skills and dedication. There are currently more than 80 high school students in this program. The collaboration with adidas and City Sports will help ensure that all DHSM athletes are properly outfitted for the arduous outdoor training endured during the harsh winter months in New England
“Our student athletes come from all backgrounds and with varied abilities. We create a sense of community and commitment to help them turn dreams into reality by accomplishing something truly unique, “ said Jamie Chaloff, Founder and Executive Director, DHSM. “Thanks to this generous support from adidas and City Sports our students will now have an even better chance of succeeding by not only knowing that they belong to something very special, but they will be able to safely train through three seasons of unpredictable New England running weather.”
adidas and City Sports will provide running shoes and uniforms to students from nine high schools across the Greater Boston area that are participating in DHSM this season. Both adidas and City Sports are widely recognized as major supporters of the Boston running community. DHSM is pleased to partner with brands that share the belief in the power of the marathon and its ability to help people realize their dreams.
"adidas is thrilled to go all in with Dreamfar and City Sports,” Amy McCarthy, Account Marketing Manager at adidas “We're committed to providing multi-season gear and support to Dreamfar so they can properly equip their student athletes to tackle the unique experience of training for and completing a marathon."
"City Sports is proud to support Dreamfar in its mission to empower students through the experience of training for and completing a marathon," said City Sports President and CEO Ed Albertian. "As a company comprised of athletes, we personally understand how establishing - and reaching - a fitness goal sets the path for even greater life accomplishments. We are thrilled to help provide this extraordinary experience for teens in our community.”
The DHSM training season began in October. Students train four days a week, including Saturdays for more than six consecutive months. The program culminates with the Cox Sports Marathon in May in Providence, RI.
Founded in 2008, DHSM’s mission is to challenge high school students to reach their full potential—physically, socially, emotionally, and academically—through a mentor-supported marathon training program; it is the first high school marathon training program in New England. DHSM is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization and is headquartered in Chestnut Hill, MA.
