Burr Elementary 2nd Graders create quilt squares around the theme "It's OK to..." This was part of the Inclusive Schools Week program and the reading of the book "It's OK to be Different." The quilt squares were then put together to create an online, digital quilt.

As part of Inclusive Schools Week, the program director of Understanding Our Differences (UOD), Maren Oslund, and UOD board member Jan Spiro visited every classroom at Burr Elementary School in Newton. Maren read the book “It’s Ok to be Different” by Todd Parr, and we discussed how it is ok to appreciate and understand everyone’s differences. The students were then instructed to create a quilt square that illustrated the idea “It’s Ok to…”.
We have created an online, "digital quilt" that displays the squares created on this theme by students. Click this link to see the quilt.
