John was born in Newton on February 1, 1932, and lived in Newton for most of his life before recently moving to Waltham. A graduate of Newton High School, he served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Until his retirement, John worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and before that for the Shipley Company in Newton Lower Falls.
