On Fri., September 9, the Newton Senior Center held a special lunch to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11/01.
The seniors were joined by Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker, Alderman Charlie Shapiro and Newton Fire Capt. Mark Roche, who each spoke personally about the events of September 11. The seniors had a chance to thank those in uniform for the service they provide.
Candles were lit in memory of the victims and music was provided by Vic King and Shirley Lewis. The seniors also enjoyed a red, white and blue cake "to remember life in America is sweet."
