Greetings to all the Newton residents and business owners here on Patch. As a home and business owner for over thirty years in Newton, I'm interested in hearing what other locals have to say regarding the current cleanliness of our city. I myself along with many of my neighbors are extremely unhappy with the conditions of our streets and sidewalks. Each morning before I open my business's doors to the public I am forced to sweep up disturbing amounts of trash and debris in front of my building. The sidewalk, street, patio, parking lot and even our front planters are continuously bombarded with cigarette butts, bottles, cans, wrappers, styrofoam cups etc...etc... Like most successful businesses, my staff and I take great pride in our curb appeal to present an inviting atmosphere for our clientele. Unfortunately for us, maintaining a respectable store front has in itself become a second full time job for us. We have sent numerous complaints to the mayor's office with no luck receiving assistance. I have decided to post this publicly to find out if there are other Newton citizens who are experiencing these issues and to possibly join together in someway to raise awareness.
