Armed Suspect Robs Newton Woman Near Chestnut Hill T Stop

One of the two suspects reportedly had a handgun when they approached the victim on Reservoir Avenue in Newton.

Newton Police are investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred Thursday in Chestnut Hill near Boston College and the Chestnut Hill T stop. 

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Reservoir Avenue and Hammond Street around 6:37 p.m. for reports of an armed robbery.

The victim, a 48-year-old Newton woman, told police she was on her way home from the Chestnut Hill T stop when the robbery occurred.

The woman said she was walking northbound on the southbound side of Reservoir Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when she passed two males who were walking southbound on the northbound side of the road. As she passed the two men near the intersection of Reservoir Avenue and Lee Road, the men crossed the street to her side of the road. 

When the woman passed the two men, they stopped and asked her what street they were on. As the woman answered their question, one man moved the right side of his jacket with his right hand, pulled out a black handgun and told the woman to "drop the pocketbook."

The suspects were described as two white males, approximately 6-feet tall, slim build, wearing dark pants and jackets. The suspect with the gun was also wearing a hoodie, police said. 

Multiple police units responded to the area along with the department's K-9 unit to search for the suspects. The officers canvassed the area with negative results.
