Barry D. Lang, 68, of Newton, passed away on Nov. 3 after battling cancer. 

According to his obituary, Lang was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Oceanside, Long Island. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York and eventually moved to Dartmouth, Mass. where he went into private orthopedic practice. 

After more than two decades as a doctor, Lang went to law school, moved to Newton and started a medical malpractice law firm in Boston, his obituary said.

Lang is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet, his three children, Kiran, Brittany and Zach, as well as several grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, it was Lang's wish that donations be made to Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America Stem Cell Research, 50 West 58th Street, New York, NY 10019.
