Boston College's New $78M Stokes Hall Opens its Doors
The facility is the second largest academic building on campus.
Two years after the school broke ground on the site, Boston College is ready to open its $78 million Stokes Hall.
The new building, located on the former site of the main quad, is the first new building BC has opened in 45 years, according to a report on Boston.com. It is also the school's most expensive academic building.
The building is named after 1964 BC grad Patrick T. Stokes, who donated $22 million for the facility, the Globe reported.
Stokes Hall includes 36 brand new classrooms, common areas, an honors library, an outdoor plaza and an amphitheater, the Globe reported.
Professors moved into the 183,000-square-foot facility today and students will attend class in the new space starting next semester.
