Comments Sought for Riverside Development Project
Comments on the project's Draft Environmental Impact Report are due to the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act by August 19.
Community members looking to comment on the potential environmental impacts of a Riverside Station development are free to do so until August 19, according to the city's Planning & Development Department.
A document issued last month known as the Draft Environmental Impact Report, or DEIR, includes lengthy details on topics such as wetlands, drainage, hazardous waste, greenhouse gas emissions and traffic/transportation as related to the potential development at the Grove Street MBTA station.
The entire DEIR is available on the city website and is broken up by topic.
The project, as proposed by BH Normandy Riverside LLC, involves transforming a 12.7-acre parking lot at the station into a mixed-use development. The development would include office space, housing, parking, retail space as well as improved roadways, landscaping and pedestrian areas.
A number of residents appeared at a community meeting last month to voice their concerns about the proposed project, Boston.com reported. Although the developer has reduced the size of the project, residents still showed reservations over the traffic impact on the neighborhood.
According to a memo from the city's Planning & Development Department, those wishing to comment on the report must submit the comments to the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act by August 19.

Ditto Mr. Pquet's comment. Can't Newton have any open spaces? Does everything have to be developed. We already have more malls than we need.
