Concetta M. Cummings, 88, Founder of Newton Women's Softball League
Concetta M. Cummings was born and raised in Newton and a familiar face at Cabot's Restaurant.
Concetta M. (Tocci) Cummings, 88, was born and raised in Newtonville as one of 14 children, according to her obituary. Cummings worked at Ark-Les Switch Company as a young woman to help support the war effort during World War II. She went on to marry Newton resident James Cummings and become the mother of seven children. They lived in both Newton Centre and Newtonville.
Cummings was active in local sports and was one of the founders of the Newton Women's Softball League. She was also a familiar face at Cabot's Restaurant, where she worked as a waitress for 18 years.
