Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 3

A PMC rider reception, a night of poetry and free story time.

 

1. PMC rider reception. Mayor Setti Warren will host a reception tonight for the local Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) riders. According to a press release issued by Warren's office, PMC Founder Billy Starr and Victoria Kennedy will join Warren for the reception in the War Memorial at City Hall. Warren is one of 160 Newton residents already signed up to ride in the PMC. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.

2. Holy Tuesday Taize. With Easter less than a week away, some Holy Week services are taking place this week here in Newton. St. Paul's Episcopal Church will host a candle light service of prayer and meditation tonight at 7:30 p.m. We will have more schedules of both Holy Week services and Passover services posted in the coming days and in our events calendar

3. A night of poetry. Newtonville Books will host a poetry event tonight in their new space at 10 Langley Road in Newton Centre. The event, which starts at 7 p.m., will feature Wendy Mnookin, Leslie Williams, and Rebecca Morgan Frank. 

4. Go Tigers! The Newton North boys' varsity lacrosse team will face Thayer Academy in a home match today at 4:45 p.m.

5. Story time at the Auburndale Community Library. Need something to do today with the little one? Stop by the Auburndale Community Library around 10:15 a.m. for a free, drop-in storytime. The story time is open to parents and caregivers with toddlers or preschoolers.
