Five Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 25
A free concert, a chance to cool off and local yard sales.
1. Concert on the Lawn. Violinist James Buswell and cellist Carol Ou will give a free concert on the lawn today at the Newton Presbyterian Church. The concert starts at 5:30 p.m. In the case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors.
2. Did you catch the winners? After tallying your votes, Newton Patch officially named its Readers' Choice 2012 winners yesterday. Check out what businesses received the Readers' Choice awards.
3. Swim time. Although Crystal Lake is closed for the season, Gath Pool is open today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Head on down and cool off before the summer is over.
4. Looking for some deals? Check out this list of local yard sales this weekend in the Newton area.
5. Weekend weather. Savor the last few weekends of summer and make sure you get outside today and tomorrow -- the weather will be perfect. Forecasters say it will be sunny with highs in the 80s.
