Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 20

It's Presidents Day! Lots of public buildings will be closed and trash is delayed one day.

 

1. Trash delayed one day. Due to the Presidents' Day holiday today, trash and recycling pickup will be delayed in Newton by one day this week. 

2. Public buildings closed. Newton City Hall, the Newton Free Libraryand other public buildings will be closed today for the holiday. Check our list for more details on what is open and closed today

3. School's out! ...for the week, anyway. February vacation starts today for the Newton Public Schools. Need some tips for what to do this week? Check out some local ideas and programs

4. Presidents Day craft. The Whole Foods Market in Newtonville will offer a free Presidents Day craft today and an opportunity for kids to make their own cherry smoothies. Stop by between 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. to participate. 

5. Doktor Kaboom. The Leventhal-Sidman JCC will host two performances with Doktor Kaboom today at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Doktor Kaboom "performs original interactive science comedy shows that creatively blend theater with the wonders of science exploration." Tickets are $12.
