Check back with Patch this morning for more weather updates. If you have any weather-related issues to report to the city, remember to use the 311 system.
2. Board of Aldermen. The Newton Board of Aldermen will meet tonight at 7:45 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chamber at City Hall. The board will vote tonight on several items, including a proposed extension for the snow shoveling ordinance, which was approved by the Public Safety & Transportation and Public Facilities committees. The full reports docket is included in the .pdf section to the right.
4. Author talk. Author Lou Ureneck will discuss his latest book, Cabin, tonight at the Newton Free Library. The book was chosen as a "must read" in the non-fiction category of the 2012 Massachusetts Book Awards, according to the library's website. Tonight's event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will include a discussion and book signing, with books provided by the New England Mobile Book Fair.
5. Meet a Boston Cannons lacrosse star and help Newton Youth Lacrosse. The Fresh City on Needham Street will host a meet-and-greet event with Boston Cannons lacrosse star Kevin Buchanan today from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Fans will have the chance to meet Buchanan, take photos with him and get his autograph. The first 30 guests to arrive wearing the Cannons red and blue colored gear will receive a pair of tickets to the Cannons first opening game of the season. As part of the event, Fresh City will donate 15 percent of every meal purchased during the event to the Newton Youth Lacrosse organization.
