School Committee meets, Finance Committee discusses F.A. Day funding and the first pre-season day for Gath Pool and Crystal Lake.
1. Swim facilities open. Both Gath Pool and Crystal Lake open today for pre-season schedules. Check out the Gath Pool schedule here and the Crystal Lake schedule here.
2. School Committee. The Newton School Committee will hold its last regular meeting of the school year tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Education Center. The committee will receive updates on the new buffer zones, discuss/vote on a superintendent evaluation as well as vote on a new CORI policy for the district. 3. Group Bike Ride. Bike Newton hosts a group bike ride Monday evenings at 6 p.m. starting from the Newton Free Library and visiting a number of scenic points around the city. The ride, which will be between 7-10 miles, is open to cyclists of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone with questions can email nathan.aronow@verizon.net.
4. Finance Committee. The Board of Aldermen's Finance Committee will meet tonight at 6:45 p.m. in room 222 at City Hall. The committee will first meet on two small items and then meet jointly with the Public Facilities Committee at 7 p.m. to discuss the $6.75 million funding request for F.A. Day Middle School renovations.
