Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 23

A movie screening, a Latin American Fiesta and Boston College musicians perform at Symphony Hall.

 

1. Latin American Fiesta. The Newton Heritage Festivals will continue today with a Latin American Fiesta at the Newton Cultural Center. The event will include kids activities, food, live music, games and more. Kids activities will run from 3 p.m.  - 5 p.m. and family fun from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

2. Skyfall movie screening. The Newton Free Library will host a screening of the latest James Bond flick, "Skyfall", this afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Druker Auditorium. The program is free and open to ages 13 and up.

3. Boston College at Symphony Hall. As part of BC's 150th anniversary, the University Chorale of Boston College, the Boston College Symphony Orchestra, BC bOp! Jazz Ensemble and the University Wind Ensemble of Boston College will perform at Symphony Hall in Boston this afternoon at 2 p.m. Actor Chris O'Donnell (BC '92) will also narrate Aaron Copland's A Lincoln Portrait. Tickets are $8.75.

4. Need tax help? The  AARP Tax-Aide Foundation will have trained volunteers on hand on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - noon at the Newton Free Library now through April 13. All of the volunteers are IRS certified and will be ready to answer questions related to regular (non-business) taxes. Patrons will be assisted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Volunteers will help fill out tax forms for anyone with moderate or low income (less than $40,000 if single or $60,000 if filing a joint return).
