1. You can check out the second day of the Newton Open Studios Fall Juried Art Show & Sale today at the Newton Cultural Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free and you can take a look at some of the art in our preview story before you head down.
2. The Solomon Schechter Day School will host an open house for prospective families today at its lower school on Stein Circle. The casual open house will feature tours of the school as well as members of the school staff. The event starts at 1 p.m.
3. The Newton Free Library will host a free concert today with Yukiko Shimazaki on piano and Orlando Cela on flute, who will perform works by French composers including Faure and Marais as well as a set of Baroque variations by Dutilleux and Franck.
4. St. Paul's Episcopal Church will feature a service today with original jazz music. The service begins at 10:30 a.m.
5. The Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center will host a "Super Sunday" fundraising day for the Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), Boston Jewish Foundation. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Check out the event listing for more details.
