Five Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 19

A public hearing on Community Preservation funding, Board of Aldermen meet and a benefit for the Newton Art Association.

 

1. 5 percent day. The Whole Foods at Four Corners will hold a "5% Day" today for the Newton Art Association. What does this mean? Five percent of the store's total sales today will benefit the Newton Art Association

2. Board of Aldermen. The Board of Aldermen will meet tonight at 7:45 p.m. in the chamber at City Hall. The full reports docket is included in the .pdf section to the right.

3. Community preservation public hearing. The Community Preservation Committee will hold a public hearing tonight on the draft guidelines for Community Preservation Act funding. The hearing will be held at the Newton Senior Center starting at 7 p.m.

4. Go Lions! The Newton South High School boys' varsity soccer team will face Concord-Carlisle in a home match today at 3:45 p.m.

5. Hank Phillippi Ryan at NE Bookfair. Hank Phillippi Ryan will appear at the New England Mobile Book Fair tonight to talk about her latest book, The Other Woman. The event starts at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a signing. RSVP to dave.nembf@gmail.com.
