Former BC Women's Soccer Player Featured in Sports Illustrated

Kristie Mewis talks about her time at Boston College, her pro career and playing for the US National Team.

Soccer player Kristie Mewis discusses her time at Boston College, playing for the U.S. Women's National Team and her upcoming professional career in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated.

Mewis, who grew up in Hanson, appears in the McDonald's Time Out feature in the June 17, 2013 issue of SI (with Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera on the cover). 

At Boston College she scored 39 goals in 89 games. She has played midfield for the Women's National Team in the U-17 and U-20 World Cups and also had a brief stint in for Canberra United of the Australian women's soccer league.

Soon, Mewis will begin playing for FC Kansas City in the new National Women's Soccer League.

Soccer was not her only sport at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. She also played basketball, until her senior year when she wanted a sport that "wasn't as demanding" so she ran track and set two school records, according to the interview.
