Former Newton Teacher Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Porn Charges
David Ettlinger appeared in a Louisiana federal court today.
A former Newton teacher pleaded guilty today to federal child pornography charges stemming from his connection to an international child pornography site, the Boston Globe reported this afternoon.
According to the Globe report, David Ettlinger pleaded guilty in a Louisiana federal court earlier today. He had been charged with engaging in a child exploitation enterprise, conspiracy to advertise the distribution of child pornography and conspiracy to distribute child porn.

Ettlinger worked in Newton for more than 10 years, holding positions at Peirce Elementary School and more recently, Underwood Elementary School.
In January, Ettlinger was one of many arrested following an investigation of the online child porn site Dreamboard. He resigned a few days after his arrest.
Shortly after Ettlinger's arrest, the Newton Public Schools held several community meetings to talk with parents about the allegations. A few months later, the schools expanded background check procedures for Newton teachers.
Aside from his federal case, Ettlinger faced child porn possession and indecent assault charges in Middlesex and Suffolk Counties. He was indicted in both counties and held on $50,000 cash bail in Middlesex County and $100,000 bail in Suffolk County.
However, in April, a Suffolk County superior court magistrate lowered Ettlinger's bail so he could be detained by federal officials and appear in a Louisiana federal court.
Ettlinger will be sentenced in federal court at a later date, the Globe reported.
