As of yesterday, a popular Beacon Street food shop has closed its doors in Newton Centre. 

John Dewar & Co. -- well known for its meats, cheeses and specialty products -- announced on its website that it is consolidating its Newton operations to its Wellesley store. 

A Tweet from @BeantownDrinks confirms that the Newton Centre shop has closed; a sign has been posted on the door letting customers know about the move. 

The following is the message included on the website and in the notice posted on the door:

We would like to thank all of you who have supported us over these past 30+ years. We would welcome the opportunity to continue to be a part of your family's meal time.
