Man Injured After Thursday Morning Rollover in Newton
The incident happened around 8:10 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 95 North.
An 80-year-old man was injured in rollover accident on Route 128/I-95 North in Newton Thursday morning when the car in which he was traveling cut across a lane at the last minute and was hit, police say.
The accident occurred just before the intersection of I-95 and the Massachusetts Turnpike.
The accident, which was reported at 8:10 a.m., involved a Chevy Trailblazer SUV that was traveling in a center lane. According to Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio, police believe the Trailblazer cut across a lane in “a last-second attempt to reach the exit” and was struck by a landscaping truck.

The impact caused the Trailblazer to roll over, injuring the car’s 80-year-old passenger, who was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is unknown, but believed to be “potentially serious,” said Procopio, adding that police were unsure if the man had been wearing his seatbelt.
The Trailblazer’s driver and occupants of the landscaping truck were uninjured, said Procopio.
