This week's question: What are your favorite outdoor activities in Newton? It may be a wash today, but when the sun is out, how do you and the kids enjoy it?

Anabella was just a little one last summer, so our favorite outdoor activity was a walk in our neighborhood! I'm hoping to bring her to Cutler Park when the weather is nicer though. It's close by, has great trails, and lots of birds to grab Anabella's attention. We also love to walk in Cold Spring Park.
I'm curious to hear what playgrounds or tot lots others bring their babes to!

Here were some of my favorite places to go with an older infant/young tot:
Cold Spring Park and Cutler Park are great for taking walks. Some favorite playgrounds are West Newton Playground, the playground at Auburndale Park, and Newton Centre Playground. I especially like West Newton Playground because not only is it only a few blocks from my house, but I can swing by Keltic Krust Bakery and get some iced tea. :-)
The kiddie pool at Gath Pool is great to cool down on a summer day. Go early if you're going with a toddler, though, because I find that as the day progresses you'll find older kids there making the pool a bit more dangerous for little ones.

Farmer's Market Farmer's Market Farmer's Market! I love to go over, take my time checking out all of the merchants then grab us some ice cream at the truck (ginger for me, some godawful flavor for Max and something healthy for Kyra).

We like Newton Centre Playground. Crystal Lake is very pretty, can't wait until it's warm enough for a swim....and an ice cream at the Farmer's Market.

I didn't realize you could swim at Crystal Lake! Is there parking there? Is it swim at your own risk, or is there a lifeguard/roped off area?

Megan -- I think this info has rates/dates from 2010, but you can use it as a reference for this year! http://www.ci.newton.ma.us/Parks/Aquatics/CrystalLakeInformation/CrystalLakeMain.htm
