New Principal Selected for Williams Elementary in Newton
The new principal previously served as principal in Poland, Maine.
Superintendent David Fleishman announced today that Ayesha Farag-Davis has been named the new principal at Williams Elementary School in Newton.
Farag-Davis is currently working on her Ph.D. at Lesley University, according to a letter issued to the Williams community this week. She previously worked as a principal at the elementary and middle schools in Poland, Maine and held a position as Assistant Principal in Portland, Maine.
In addition, Farag-Davis has worked as a classroom teacher and school counselor in Maine and Vermont.
"Throughout the search, Ayesha impressed us with her outstanding record as a principal, her first-rate communication skills, and her commitment to improving student learning," Fleishman said in the letter. "In addition, she has demonstrated a capacity for leadership that is characterized by collaboration and determination."
Fleishman's full letter is included in the .pdf section to the right.
Farag-Davis has a bachelor’s degree from Bates College, a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a certificate in educational leadership from the University of Southern Maine, the letter said.
Farag-Davis, who starts on July 1, will replace current Interim Principal Bob Beaudet. Beaudet was appointed last year after former Williams Principal Midge Connolly was appointed as vice principal at Newton North High School.
"I also want to recognize the excellent leadership that Bob Beaudet is providing during this transitional year. Bob has worked effectively with all stakeholders in the Williams community and I know everyone is grateful for his tremendous commitment to the school," Fleishman said in the letter.
