Newton Restaurants: Where to Grab Grub on Christmas

Looking for a place to eat out on Christmas Day? Even if you're not Jewish, you can enjoy a meal out at over a dozen restaurants all over Newton!

As many of you probably know (especially if you read my Christmastime column last year), it is a humorous tradition that Jewish people go out for Chinese food on Christmas Day. Whether restaurants serving Asian cuisine recognized that there was a hungry sector of the public eager to be fed, or Jews decided that if Chinese food was what was available, Chinese restaurants make up the lion’s share of what is open on Christmas Day.

With the holiday falling on a Sunday this year, some restaurants are simply closed as they are every Sunday and a few others have shortened hours. But here in Newton, we are lucky that in addition to Chinese restaurants, we also have a couple of Japanese places, a Thai restaurant and two upscale American establishments open for business. Chag Sameach (Happy Holiday)!

I'm pretty sure restaurants like Bertucci's and Uno's are open today as well.
