According to Police Chief Matthew Cummings, a former Newton North student who alleges he was racially profiled at a Thanksgiving Day football game has filed a citizen's complaint with the Newton Police Department.

Cummings said this morning that former student Tim James came in with his mother and lawyer to file the complaint against the officer who allegedly searched him after a school staff member reported a possible drug deal involving James.

James said the officer touched him during the search, Cummings said, and the Police Department is currently wrapping up the investigation of the alleged incident. 

The department is likely to make an official statement on the matter once the investigation has completed, Cummings added.
