Newton North Student Union Design Selected
The Student Faculty Administration is hoping to convert a portion of the North cafeteria into a student union.
Following a design contest held last month, the Newton North Student Faculty Administration (SFA) has selected a winning design for a student union space in the high school's cafeteria.
According to a report filed by The Newtonite, Newton North's student newspaper, sophomore Liran Bromberg submitted the winning design.
The design was selected during a SFA meeting held earlier this month, the article said.
Bromberg will receive a $100 gift card co-sponsored by Whitsons Culinary Group and the PTO for submitting the winning design. He will also help guide the school and SFA as the union design moves forward.
The project hopes to convert a portion of the cafeteria into a place where students can lounge, socialize and show school sprit.
Costs are a concern for the project, The Newtonite reports; Principal Jennifer Price has encouraged faculty and students to find ways to cut expenses in the project. Price estimates the union project could have a budget of $6,000.
