Newton Police Warn of Possible Phone Scams
A number of similar scams have been reported in Peabody, Mass.
The Newton Police Department is warning residents of a possible phone scam involving fake insurance companies.
According to Newton Police Officer Eric Rosenbaum, the unsolicited phone calls involve callers claiming they are from an insurance company looking to verify personal information.
Although the Newton Police Department has not received any complaints about this specific phone scam, Rosenbaum said the Peabody Police Department has had a number of reports involving this scam and the calls could eventually hit Newton residents.
Rosenbaum reminded residents not to give out any personal information to unsolicited callers and to report possible phone scams to the department. If possible, residents should try to get the number from which the scam call is made.
The Newton Police Department can be reached at 617-796-2100.

I've read this same reminder posted at www.callercenter.com and I could only agree. If we remain vigilant against these scammers, they'd never stand a chance at putting their hands on our hard-earned money.
