Newton Resident Robbed at Knifepoint on Charlesbank Road

A resident woke up to find a man standing over him with a knife.

A Charlesbank Road resident was reportedly robbed at knifepoint early Wednesday morning after the suspect broke into the resident's home. 

According to police reports, officers responded to a call for a breaking and entering in progress in the 100 block of Charlesbank Road around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday. 

When police arrived on scene, the resident told officers he woke up to find a man standing over him holding a knife and demanding money.

The victim said he sat up in bed, took his wallet and handed it to the suspect. However, the suspect continued to demand more money or gold. The suspect continued to be aggressive toward the victim and pushed him down onto a couch.

Reports said the victim was eventually able to get off the couch and run downstairs into the kitchen, where he yelled for his roommates to call the police.

The suspect was described as a tall white male (possibly middle-eastern), skinny with short dark hair and "minor scruffy facial hair." He was reportedly wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

Reports said the suspect spoke some English, but not very well. He was also sweating profusely, the victim said.

Police believe the suspect broke into the house through an unlocked back door, walked into the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife before heading upstairs to the bedroom.

According to reports, police later found a knife in the driveway of the Charlesbank Road residence.

In addition, police said they found three vehicles off Charlesbank Road that were broken into.

According to reports, police searched the area and spotted a man partially matching the suspect description standing in a driveway in the 100 block of Washington Street. That person fled into a backyard toward Tremont Street and was not found. 

A State Police K-9 unit responded to the scene and searched the area, with negative results.
