Newton Teacher to be Arraigned in Superior Court Today on Child Porn Charges
David Ettlinger has been indicted on several charges.
The Newton second-grade teacher who authorities say had possession of child pornography will be arraigned today in Middlesex Superior Court on charges unrelated to his teaching position, according to the District Attorney's Office.
David Ettlinger, 34, of Brighton, has been indicted on charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, posing a child in a state of nudity, posing a child in sexual conduct, possession of child pornography and recording a partially nude person secretly, according to a press release from the District Attorney's Office.
“We allege that the defendant violated his position of trust, sexually assaulting a minor who was in his care,” said Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone, in the press release. “This, combined with the allegations made against this defendant by the Federal Government and the Suffolk County DA’s Office, make clear that this defendant is an alleged serial predator of children and will be prosecuted as such.”
Authorities say that on Jan. 17, computers and digital media were taken from Ettlinger's home, after a federal search warrant was executed. Images and movies on those devices showed Ettlinger allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl, the press release notes.
The girl, a Middlesex County resident, was not one of his students at Underwood Elementary School, but someone Ettlinger had been hired to care for in her home, the press release said. Ettlinger resigned from his teaching position
