Newton-Wellesley Hospital is ranked in the top 15 compared to 77 local hospitals in a U.S. News & World Report list published today.

The 290-bed general medical and surgical hospital was ranked No. 13 in the "Boston metro area" category and No. 16 in Massachusetts. (U.S. News & World Report has mistakenly listed the hospital as having 189 beds, according to Newton-Wellesley Hospital spokeswoman Rachel Kagno). The hospital is tied with Winchester Hospital at 13th place in the category.

Newton-Wellesley is considered “high performing” in the adult specialties of geriatrics, urology and orthopedics, according to the list.

Massachusetts General Hospital came in as the No. 1 overall hospital in the United States.
