After 13 years as a staple in Newtonville center, Newtonville Books announced this week it will be moving to a new location in Newton Centre. 

According to a message on the Newtonville Books website, Owner Mary Cotton says the move to Newton Centre is largely sparked by the new location's accessibility to the T. Many of the events Newtonville Books hosts, Cotton says, are not available the part of the population that relies on the subway system.

The shop's new location will be located next to Jumbo Seafood, near the intersection of Centre Street and Langley Road. Although it will be in a new village, the store will keep its Newtonville Books name.

With the move, the independent book shop will no longer offer a used book section. However, Cotton notes in her message that they will expand their children's section. 

"I know the bookstore's exit from Newtonville leaves a void in the village. I can only hope something terrific goes into the space we currently occupy, especially as my family and I live in Newtonville, just a block from Walnut Street...It's our intention to keep growing the store and servicing the Newton community with a terrific selection of books and literary programming." Cotton says in her message.
