One Championship Down, One to Go for Newton Swim Team

Although the season is winding down, the Newton Bluefish are not letting up.

Continuing the trend of a nearly perfect season, the Newton Bluefish swim team stayed at the top of the league during last Saturday's "B" championship meet at Gath Pool

The undefeated swim team placed first in the South Suburban Swim League championship meet with a final score of 338.5. The Bluefish beat out 11 other teams including Needham, Medfield, Dedham, Natick and, one of the team's biggest competitors, Framingham

Check out the .pdf to the right for a list of Newton results from the "B" championship.

The "B" championships include all the swimmers who don't have fast enough times to make the "A" championship cutoff.

The "A" championships will be held this Saturday, Aug. 11, at Gath Pool. Meets typically wrap-up between 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., at which point the pool will open to the public.

This season's domination is not unlike the 2011 summer Bluefish season; the team finished last summer 11-0 with the "A" and "B" championship title as well as first place in the girls' mile swim.

Earlier this season, the team recorded its 500th win with a victory against Sherborn.

Later today, the Bluefish will face Natick in a home meet at 6 p.m.

Thursday marks the team's final regular meet of the summer season, where they will face off against Norwood at Hawes Pool in Norwood at 6 p.m.
