One Championship Down, One to Go for Newton Swim Team

Although the season is winding down, the Newton Bluefish are not letting up.

Continuing the trend of , the Newton Bluefish swim team stayed at the top of the league during last Saturday's "B" championship meet at . 

The undefeated swim team placed first in the South Suburban Swim League championship meet with a final score of 338.5. The Bluefish beat out 11 other teams including Needham, Medfield, Dedham, Natick and, .

The "B" championships include all the swimmers who don't have fast enough times to make the "A" championship cutoff. 

The "A" championships will be held this Saturday, Aug. 11, at . Meets typically wrap-up between 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., at which point the pool will open to the public.

This season's domination is not unlike the 2011 summer Bluefish season; the team finished last summer 11-0 with the "A" and "B" championship title as well as first place in the girls' mile swim.

Earlier this season, the team recorded its 500th win with a victory against Sherborn.

Later today, the Bluefish will face Natick in a home meet at 6 p.m.

Thursday marks the team's final regular meet of the summer season, where they will face off against Norwood at Hawes Pool in Norwood at 6 p.m.
