Filled with the beats of African drumming, melodies, dancing and the words of Langston Hughes, Lasell College was a true center for diversity Saturday morning.
As part of the school's first Unity in the Community Breakfast, local community members, students and leaders -- including Mayor Setti Warren -- met at the school to celebrate Black History Month.
"We must continue to focus on this issue even while we celebrate our progress," Warren said of race relations in America.
Members from the school step team, chorus and world percussion ensemble performed at the event. Local students were also recognized for their essays written about Black History Month.
