Last Friday was a big night at Mount Ida College -- not only did the school celebrate a new field and stadium, it also celebrated an exciting home victory.
With less than two minutes left to the season's home opener, the Mount Ida College football team managed to convert a 47-yard field goal to defeat UMass Dartmouth 21-24.
The game took place following the official ribbon cutting of the new field and state-of-the-art stadium, which features new artificial turf, new lights, new bleachers, a press box and a scoreboard.
Newton Mayor Setti Warren and new President Barry Brown were on hand for the ribbon cutting and coin toss.
A full game recap is available on the Mount Ida Athletics website.
