Police Log: Newton Teen Steals a Car, Man Arrested on Six Warrants

The following information was supplied by the Newton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

Stolen car in Auburndale

Police responded to Dewire Bros. Inc., 2240 Commonwealth Ave., on Friday after the business owner told police a customer's car was stolen from the business property.

According to reports, the business owner took the customer's car around 2 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 15) and on Thursday, his employee parked the vehicle in a lot behind the business around 5:30 p.m. and left for the day.

When the business owner returned to the shop Friday morning around 7:30 a.m., he noticed the rear gate was open and an hour later, noticed the car was missing. 

Kicked-in car doors

Police responded to Needham Street on Friday after someone reported their car doors had been kicked in. The vehicle owner said the incident happened sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.

Warrant arrest

A Rehoboth man was arrested Friday after police received a call for a white pick-up truck soliciting paving jobs in Auburndale.

According to police reports, a call came in for the truck soliciting jobs in the area of Melrose Street. Police responded to this area and did not find anything, but managed to locate the paving crew paving a driveway on Islington Road. 

While investigating, police found that one of the men had a warrant out for his arrest. 

Christopher Lane Ryan, 39, of 47 Sweeney Road, was arrested on a warrant out of Taunton District Court for failure to appear for jury duty. 

Newton man arrested after accident

A Newton man was arrested Friday after police responded to Jerome Avenue for reports of a car accident. 

Jimmie Lee Parker III, 39, of 41 Jerome Ave., was charged with assault and battery, reports said. 

Theft at the Apple Store

Police responded to the Apple Store in the Mall at Chestnut Hill Saturday after someone reportedly stole a white iPhone 4S.

According to reports, the unknown thief entered the store around 5:30 p.m., approached the front table, took the alarm system off the phone and left the store. Employees did not report any suspicious parties in the area, reports said.

Newton man arrested on six warrants

A Newton man was arrested Saturday on numerous warrants out of Arlington and Medford, reports said. 

Ronald Gilbert Ribeiro, 28, of 22 Fredette Road was arrested on the following warrants:

  • Arlington - Larceny from a building
  • Arlington - Driving with a suspended license and using a car without authority
  • Arlington - Driving with a suspended registration, failure to stop/yield (two counts) and having an uninsured car/trailer
  • Medford - Larceny under $250 and obtaining personal information about another 
  • Medford - Larceny under $250 and obtaining personal information about another 
  • Medford - Larceny under $250 and obtaining personal information about another 

Newton teen steals truck

A 16-year-old from Newton faces larceny and driving charges after he allegedly stole a truck, police said. 

According to reports, police received a BOLO (be on the look out) on Sunday for a 1999 white Chevy pick-up truck that was stolen out of Lancaster, MA. Newton Police on patrol eventually spotted the vehicle driving on Oak Avenue.

After following the vehicle, police were able to confirm that the truck was stolen and at that time, pulled the truck over near Waltham Street, reports said. 

Police found that the driver was an unlicensed 16-year-old from Newton. He was arrested and faces charges of receiving stolen property (motor vehicle) and receiving stolen property over $250. He will also be cited for driving without a license, police said. 

Stolen trailer plate

According to police reports, someone came in to the Newton Police Department Monday to report that someone had stolen the license plate off his trailer.

The trailer owner said someone stole the plate off his trailer over the course of the last week. The trailer was parked in his driveway off Central Street.
