Stolen Bicycle

Newton Police responded to the Fuller House at Andover-Newton Theological School (239 Herrick Road) on Feb. 3 for reports of a stolen bicycle.

According to reports, the Fuji brand dark green hybrid mountain bike, a "Sagres" model, was stored in the basement of the building. It was stolen sometime between Jan. 24 and Jan. 31.

Theft from a construction site

Newton Police responded to a construction site on Crestwood Road on Feb. 5 for reports of a theft that happened sometime between Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 5 at 9 a.m.

According to reports, it was the site of a home that had been demolished.

The stolen items included a city water meter as well as 130 feet of copper piping, which was taken from an unsecured basement that was still intact.

Break-in on Fordham Road

A Fordham Road resident told Newton Police on Feb. 5 that someone had attempted to break into his home sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

According to reports, the resident returned home to find the basement door next to the driveway kicked in and the door jamb broken. There was also a dirty footprint on the door.

It appeared as though someone may have kicked the door once and was scared off before gaining entry, reports said.

Break-in on Oak Street

Police responded to an Oak Street apartment on Feb. 5 after a resident reported someone had broken into the residence sometime during the day. 

According to reports, the resident left for school around 7:50 a.m. and when she returned at 2:45 p.m., she found several items missing from the home.

The stolen items included a Playstation 3, two Playstation 3 controllers, a gold rope chain, two watches, a Kindle Fire tablet, two Sony laptop computers and cash. 

There were no signs of forced entry into the home, reports said. 

Break-in on Pine Street

Newton Police responded to a Pine Street residence on Feb. 5 for reports of a break-in that happened sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

According to reports, the residents left for dinner and when they returned they found a glass jar they use to keep change broken at the end of the driveway. After going inside, the residents found a jewelry box had been stolen as well as cash from a strong box.

A neighbor told police he heard something going on inside the Pine Street unit around 8 p.m., reports said.

Newton man arrested for domestic assault

A Newton man was arrested Feb. 5 after police responded to the area of Crafts Street and California Street for reports of a disturbance.

Vincent Paul Cedrone, 55, of 315 Crafts St., was arrested and charged with domestic assault, police said. 

Football shed broken into

Newton Police responded to the Newton Highlands Playground on Feb. 6 for reports of an attempted theft from the Pop Warner Football storage shed.

According to reports, it appeared as though someone had tried to gain entry into the storage locker. 

Break-in on Lexington Street

A Lexington Street resident told police on Feb. 6 that someone had broken into her home sometime after Feb. 5 at 8 a.m.

According to reports, the resident realized her home was broken into after noticing several pieces of jewelry missing from her dresser. The missing items included a gold pearl ring a white/yellow gold "Cape Cod" bracelet and a pair of earrings.

Suspicious person wanted on a warrant

Newton Police responded to West Pine Street on Feb. 6 after a man reported seeing a male riding a white mountain bike slowly down the street and acting suspiciously.

After canvassing the area, police located the man matching the description. Police ran a query through dispatch and found the man had default warrant out for his arrest.

Michael Joseph LaPointe, 35, of 246 Bacon St., Waltham, was arrested on a warrant out of Fitchburg, police said. 

Police assist with fired employee

Police responded to the Dunkin' Donuts at Four Corners on Feb. 6 to assist with keeping the peace.

According to reports, the reporting party called police to assist with the termination of an employee.

The employee, a 28-year-old South Boston man, was charged with larceny over $250, reports said. Police also issued a no trespassing order for the Four Corners Dunkin' Donuts as well as two other Dunkin' Donuts locations. 

Assault with a knife

A Newton woman was arrested Feb. 6 after an alleged assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).

The charges against the Newton woman were not prosecuted (nolle prosequi), according to documents from Newton District Court.
