Yes, we know there are a few missing from the list -- and certainly some are more "hidden" than others. Unfortunately, we couldn't include every park and trail in the poll, but instead chose some of our favorites as well as suggestions from reader comments, emails, Tweets and Facebook posts.

What about Cold Spring Park, Reservoir near BC (Is that Hammond Pond) in Cleveland Circle, hiking trails behind Boston College Law School. Is Cutler Park completely in Needham or is part of it in Newton? That is another great place.
It would be nice to have a map with all of these places highlighted, especially for families with young children.

Thanks for your comment! Like I said in the written part above, we unfortunately couldn't include all of the different parks in Newton although Cold Spring Park is great!
The Chestnut Hill Reservoir is actually in Boston, so we decided to leave that one out. As for Cutler Park, my understanding that it was all in Needham (but right on the Newton line), but I'm not positive -- perhaps someone could make a better call?

My personal favorites are (1) Houghton Garden on Suffolk Rd in Chestnut Hill which connects to Webster Woods in Newton Centre; (2) Edmands Park in Newtonville; and Echo Bridge along the Charles River in Newton Upper Falls. Now these gems are no longer "hidden"!
