Report: Chestnut Hill Shake Shack to Open Next Week

The popular NYC-based restaurant that is famous for its burgers, fries and shakes is opening next week in Newton (Chestnut Hill).

Move Over Harlem Shake: Chestnut Hill is getting its own Shake (Shack).

The new Shake Shack is reportedly opening at The Street in Chestnut Hill on Wednesday, March 20.

According to Eater Boston, the iconic New York-based higher end fast food joint will be welcoming customers a week from today. If its sibling restaurants are any indication, the newest Shake Shack location will undoubtedly be serving some Chestnut Hill-specific “concretes” or frozen custards with mix-ins. Also on the menu will likely be their usual wide selection of burgers and hot dogs, fries, frozen custard concoctions and beer and wine.

The new eatery is opening up in the former Rugged Bear space.

Shake Shack, part of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, opened its first New York City location in 2001 as a Madison Square Park hot dog cart. It morphed into a permanent location in the same spot three years later and has now grown to locations in six states, the Middle East and Turkey. A London location will be opening later this year.

Shake Shack will join a slew of new retail shops and restaurants at The Street, which recently constructed a new, 115,00-square-foot building on the former Macy's site

In addition to Shake Shack, The Street is also welcoming a new Sports Club/LAPinkberryBernard'sTreat Cupcake Bar, Pottery Barnlululemon, City Sports, Polarn O. Pyret and a Showcase Super Lux theatre.

The new shops and restaurants are opening gradually, with the Sports Club/LA just opened on Monday, March 11 and City Sports slated to open this Saturday, March 16. More new spaces are expected to open later this month and the new Showcase Super Lux theatre will likely open in May, officials say.

Candy, I think we need to find fun outfits to wear as we wait in line next Wednesday. If the response on other sites is any indication, we are going to have a LOT of company there :)
