Skipjack's in Newton Closes its Doors

The Needham Street restaurant closed Monday.

After 15 years in Newton,  on Needham Street has closed up shop. 

The Newton Highlands seafood restaurant closed Monday, leaving a note on its front door for patrons. The letter reads:

After being a part of the Newton community for many years we are sad to inform you that Skipjack's is now closed. We would like to thank everyone for their patronage over the last 15 years. 

55 Needham St. has been purchased by a new owner and subsequently the lease has expired. As one chapter closes a new one opens for the development of this property.

In a brief conversation with Newton Patch Sunday evening, a manager who answered the phone at the restaurant confirmed the eatery was closing, but could not provide any additional details. 

Although the Newton location was listed on the Skipjack's website Sunday, it was removed by Monday.

According to the Skipjack's Facebook page, which posted a similar letter to customers, the restaurant owners are "committed to finding a new location in the area."
