Snow Emergency Lifted in Newton as of 1:30 p.m.
Cars can now park on the streets and in municipal lots.
The snow emergency and parking ban has been lifted in Newton, effective 1:30 p.m., according to the mayor's office.
With the snow emergency lifted, cars can be parked on city streets and in municipal lots again.
However, the city's regular winter parking ban remains in effect. With this ban, cars are not allowed to park on city streets for more than one hour between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. This parking ban runs from November 15-April 15.
Newton issued the snow emergency early Tuesday morning as a late winter snow storm made its way through the state. In addition to the snow emergency, Newton Public Schools were closed Tuesday.
If you have any snow-related service requests for the city, call them in to the City Hall customer service line at 617-796-1000. Requests can also be made through the city's online 311 system. All emergencies should be reported to 911.
