Due to the approaching snow storm and the National Weather Service's blizzard warning, several Newton offices, businesses and organizations have announced they are not opening Wednesday.
The NWS is predicting the storm will bring 12 to 16 inches starting around 2 a.m. Wednesday. The city of Newton issued a snow emergency Tuesday afternoon.

Other:
- The Atrium Mall announced via Twitter this afternoon it is opening for business at 1 p.m.
- West Suburban YMCA will not offer preschool or after school programs and the 6 a.m. Cardio Yoga Fatburn Fusion class is canceled. The club said this morning via its website that it will delay opening to 8 a.m. and the pool will be open at 9 a.m. All exercise, aquatics and sports classes/programs have been canceled.
- Gymboree classes are canceled for Wednesday but the center will be open for afternoon play gym.
As of Tuesday afternoon, trash pickup in Newton has not officially been delayed. Residents are asked to put trash out as normal and leave it on the curb if it is not picked up.
The city asks that residents report snow-related issues to the city by dialing 311 from a landline phone or 617-796-1000 from a cell phone. Although City Hall will be closed, city officials said Tuesday representatives will be available for calls starting a 5 a.m.
