There are many online retailers out there selling cloth diapers and other green baby items, but one of the best is located right here in Newton.  

Thanks Mama began in 2002, but when the original owner moved out of the country, current owners Helena and Kosta Shumakin bought the company and turned it into what it is today.  

Kosta previously worked for an alternative energy company, but was looking to make a career change.  When his wife, Helena, was pregnant with their daughter, she began reading about cloth diapering. Once they discovered Thanks Mama was for sale, everything just came together.

Since then, the Shumakins have grown and expanded the product lines for Thanks Mama  and this summer they moved into a spacious building on Border Street in West Newton.  

All of the products on their site are personally selected by the Shumakins.  They work hard to offer less expensive lines of cloth diapers, which is particularly important as cloth diapering has the potential to be expensive.  

The product offerings at Thanks Mama are also constantly growing; in addition to carrying cloth diapers, they also carry eco-friendly educational toys, natural baby care products, bibs, baby carriers, and much more.  

Cloth diapering can seem very daunting to somebody who may be new to it.  There are many types of cloth diapers--such as the old pre-fold diapers--but there are now lots of more modern types that require no folding and some that even adjust to fit the littlest babies and bigger toddlers.
