The Grape Escape
Check out Urban Grape to find the perfect glass of wine to help you wind down
We all have those days when we say, “I could just use a nice glass of wine and a few minutes to unwind.” And while The Great Escape is not suggesting that you escape into a bottle, if you are going to enjoy the fruit of the vine why not make absolutely sure it’s the best glass of wine you can have?
This is where Urban Grape can make your “grape escape” even greater. Owners TJ and Hadley Douglas are committed to making sure every patron of their well-designed shop finds exactly the right wine.
They will take the time to talk to you about what you like, what your price range is, with what food you might be pairing your wine or for what occasion it is being served. And they will pour you samples so that you aren’t just guessing about whether or not you like the type of wine you’re considering. A visit to Urban Grape is an escape in itself.
With a rotating inventory of over 850 different varieties of wine (and an extensive collection of beers and spirits too), you can find your favorite go-to Riesling or discover a bold new Shiraz.
Urban Grape also hosts events and educational seminars. Coming up on April 10 they will be having a Passover wine and food tasting in conjunction with Whole Foods, Doves and Figs and Good Food Doris. RSVP is required.
Go to their website to find out about this and other events, to educate yourself about wine or to read Hadley’s blog. Make sure to check out her post about the brewery in Japan that has switched from producing beer to making fresh water and food for the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami.
Urban Grape is located at 7 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, near the Shaw’s Market. Their phone number is 617-232-4831.
