Jan. 14, 2013 - On his first official day of work, newly-appointed Secretary of Education Matt Malone talks with career & tech ed teacher Andrea Shurtleff at Newton North High School and looks at hand-drawn examples from the drafting class. Malone, who grew up in Newton Upper Falls, was a drafting major when he attended Newton North in the 1980s. Just a few hours after his visit on Monday, Malone was officially sworn into his new position.
- The Newton School Committee voted in favor of sending all Cabot Elementary School students to F.A. Day Middle School when they reach sixth grade. Right now, Cabot students are split between F.A. Day and Bigelow Middle.
- The new State Sec. of Education, Matt Malone, visited Newton North this week. Malone, an Upper Falls native, graduated from NNHS in 1988.
