On Sat., June 23, Newton residents Matt and Nicole Johnson welcomed their new son Ripley into the world -- and their living room.

After Nicole's water broke in the couple's home, the two soon realized they wouldn't be able to make it to the hospital in time. Luckily, 911 dispatcher Andrea Ferguson calmly coached the couple through the delivery while EMS and fire crews responded to the home.

Thanks to the work of Ferguson and the first responders, the Johnsons had a healthy home birth.
