Waban Kitchen is Open for Business
The newest venture from 51 Lincoln's Jeff Fournier replaces the former Kouzina on Beacon Street in Waban.
In what seems to be a monthly trend here in Newton, another new restaurant has opened its doors.
Waban Kitchen, a new venture from 51 Lincoln Chef Jeff Fournier, opened last night, according to Grub Street Boston and the restaurant's Facebook page.
The new restaurant is located at 1649 Beacon St. in Waban, the space formerly occupied by Kouzina.
According to the Facebook page, Waban Kitchen will start taking reservations on Open Table after Nov. 8.
Back in August, Fournier told Patch about the "rustic," farm-to-table restaurant in Waban Square. The food featured at Waban Kitchen will have "simple, elegant flavors", Fournier said, with dishes like grilled langoustine with lentils and flat iron steak served with bone marrow mashed potatoes.
The Waban Kitchen menu is available on the restaurant's new website.

There will also be wine pairings at Waban Kitchen, Fournier said. In fact, the local chef would like to have a pairing for each dish so diners can have plates accompanied by a well-matched wine.
The only dish that will carry over to the new place from 51 Lincoln will be Fournier's signature Bolognese. Other than that, Fournier is looking to make the Waban eatery a different experience from his restaurant in Newton Highlands.
"I want [Waban Kitchen] to have its own personality," Fournier said in August. "I'm not looking to have another 51 Lincoln."
The 46-seat restaurant will also include a new bar, which Fournier said will be part of the cosmetic changes and additions to the Kouzina space formerly owned by Joanna and Nelson Cognac.
Current 51 Lincoln Chef de Cuisine Jakob White will take over as chef de cuisine at the new restaurant, Fournier says. Fernanda Tapia, his current sous chef, will transition into chef de cuisine at 51 Lincoln.
Waban Kitchen is located at 1649 Beacon St. in Waban and can be reached at 617-558-7677. The restaurant serves dinner from 5 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday.
