What Happened to Tess & Carlos in Newton Centre?

You ask, Patch answers.

Last week, one of Newton Patch's readers submitted a question on our Facebook page asking about Tess & Carlos, a women's clothing boutique in Newton Centre.

The shop, which is located on Centre Street, has been in Newton Centre for 14 years. The business has three other loations in Concord, Cambridge and Rochester, NY.

Currently, the storefront is covered in brown paper and the door is locked.

We thought this was a perfect question for You Ask, Patch Answers.

Well, we walked down to Newton Centre recently and found a sign on the door of the shop stating that the business has moved. Here's what the note reads:

WE HAVE MOVED!

To our loyal customers:

Thank you for the 14 wonderful years of business you have given to us in Newton! Please visit us at any of our other locations. We can be reached at 617-864-8377.

Thanks again,
Tess + Carlos

Moving is when one location closes and it reopens in another. If they have moved...where?
Neither Tess nor Carlos have moved. The store has closed, not moved. In May of 2000 when I locked the doors on my store for the last time, it was not a move, it was a closing. When I locked the doors of my house in Delray Beach, Fl for the last time in May of 2010, that was a move. I came back to civilization, Newton

Nothing can replace Tess&Carlos. It was the most amazing store with the most breath taking merchandise I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Tess was always hands on with helping her customers. I was in and out within five minutes and it was easily one of the best shopping experiences of my life. I will follow Tess to Weston no question about it.
