When Will Bernard's Reopen in Chestnut Hill?
The Asian restaurant was formerly located in the Mall at Chestnut Hill.
Have you been missing the food from Bernard's restaurant in the Mall at Chestnut Hill?
Have no fear. The Asian eatery, which recently closed its mall location, will be opening up a new spot at The Street in Chestnut Hill.
So, when can you expect an opening?
According to WS Development Field Marketing Manager Allison Yee, Bernard's is aiming for an opening in late March.
The new location will be situated on the lower level of the new building currently being constructed on the former Macy's site, Yee said. It will face Route 9 and sit between the Showcase Super Lux lobby and City Sports.
Bernard's joins a slew of other new tenants planning to open at The Street (formerly the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center), which is currently undergoing a multi-phase rebuilding and renovation that includes the two new buildings as well as some pedestrian improvements and landscaping additions.
The new 115,000-square-foot building (formerly the Macy's site) will include a Sports Club/LA, lululemon, City Sports, Pinkberry, Bernard's, Treat Cupcake Bar, Pottery Barn, Polarn O. Pyret and a Showcase Super Lux theatre.
The shopping center's owner/operator, WS Development, is also planning to demolish the building that housed City Sports and Century Bank and in its place, re-build a three-story, mixed-use structure that will include retail space, office space and potentially restaurant space.
As for other openings at The Street, Sports Club/LA has said they are planning for a late February opening and City Sports is aiming for sometime in early March. The new Showcase Super Lux is estimating it will open sometime in late May, according to WS Development.
Bernard's is one of two restaurants to recently vacate the Mall at Chestnut Hill; Charley's restaurant abruptly closed its doors at the mall last month after many years in Chestnut Hill.
Last fall, the Mall at Chestnut Hill applied for special permits to add more restaurant space over the next few years.
