Your Pie (Bakery) Craving May Have to Wait

The Local favorite will be shutting down temporarily for renovations and revamping.

Wondering why the doors have shut on the downtown? Well, don't worry, they won't be closed forever.

According to an interview last month with owner Elli Kaplansky, the popular bakery has been quietly telling its loyal customers over the last few weeks that it will have a post-Thanksgiving closing to prepare for renovations and revamping of the cafe.

Kaplansky said the pie shop is looking to shift away from its baked goods-focus and begin to offer more restaurant-esque fare.

Not only will the menu shift, but the interior will also be completely redone, Kaplansky said.

Pie, of course, will still be a featured food.

Most of the staff will remain on board, Kaplansky said, as she explained they are really the core of the bakery.

The Beacon Street spot hopes to reopen shortly after the new year.
